Problem

Postby Zinzeo » Fri Feb 12, 2010 10:28 pm

ok, so I found this guide on FPSbanana on how to connect with WON2, and it gave me a program called "PingTool". I connect to servers, and they're all located in Japan O.O, which leads me to have about 200 - 300 ping. Is there any other programs or any way to access WON2 instead of this program?

Japan? My my, that's an audience I had no idea we catered for!

I'd suggest the WON2 patch for players or one of the Half-Life/CS patches.

Plus, make sure your network settings are correct in Half-Life/CS. This might avoid your high pings. Use the Half-Life/CS client to connect to servers, and check your network settings from the Internet Servers screen. If it's set to something like 28.8k, or 56.6k, well, you can see where I'm coming from. ;)

Thanks :D

I installed the update and everything, but I still only find these Japanese servers, which never goes well, seeing as I can't understand a word they're saying xD

If you know of an American server, do you mind posting the IP?

Actually, could you post the IP of the Japanese server you are connecting to? I swear I had no idea there were any Japanese players.

Been a bit busy, but I might be able to explain what's going on.

There have been a huge amount of Chinese servers popping up all over the network, with very obscure names (apparently they make sense to the Chinese though), generally made of numbers. These might be the servers you have been connecting to. Try one lower down the list with an English name.

I'm surprised you can even connect to the Chinese servers. They all seem to be fake; constantly cycling through unlikely ports and giving false statistics.

It's not my choice to make but I wouldn't mind blocking China completely from all services. Legitimate traffic from there is almost nonexistent.

I know  I was surprised myself

and as for blocking them, yes DO IT.

I only connect to them and play there because no American servers have anyone in them.

If you have one, post the IP please/thanks :D

Yeah, the first server I went on was a Chinese one. I've noticed that most of these servers have mods either changing the HUD slightly, or modifying the sounds. They're quite a pain to connect to. I've also noticed that most servers are either empty, or are simply 0/0 Half-Life servers. It might be a good idea to also make more normal HL1 servers :P .
