The final push.

Postby TheDeepFreeze » Mon Jan 25, 2010 2:59 am

Hello, gentlemen.

Well, since this is like my 100th account here (perhaps literally....), I was looking over old files on an old hard drive that dated back to the era of 2004-2008 when it was used. I looked over it and saw old files from modding, mapping and other old games, and it triggered my memory of this project.

I vaguely remember speaking to slayer, and rguest, and they both told me (keep in mind, this was 2 years ago) that the project would probably conclude in 2 years time.

Well, here we are.

I also remember rguest asking me if I wished to join the team to help out with the dirty work around here. Since it's now 2010, I feel that this project needs a booster shot, or sooner or later it will become defunct. Warf!y is a hard working guy who does not have the time to constantly update things and cater to the user base.

So, I would like in. I've been with this project since June 2007, and back then up until around when my entire motherboard fried to bits I was quite enthused about this kind of stuff, and my interest has been rejuvenated again.

I remember rguest talking about doing a mod specifically for this project. That would be awesome.

I'll also see if I can host a masterserver here at my home. I'm upgrading my internet plan in about 3 months time, so I'll have far more resources available than currently.

By the way, it's possible that if this network has any major projects coming up, I can feature it on my new web site once it's up. Just a way to help out. I just need to register and buy the desired domain name, set it up and that's that. My site would be a gaming related site so we could work something out about that.

I dno't remember any two years expirations, but helpers are always welcome. There's still a distinct lack of old school modding knowledge. You might still have my IM, but I don't have whatever one you're using now though.

Well, it was a LONG time ago. Very vague memory, but I remember it.

Yes, old school modding for those type of games might vanish completely if we do not do something to preserve it. I still have all those files, on that subject. So we could set something up.

My concern is that this project will become defunct sooner or later, like 95 percent of old school HL1 engine related stuff has done. There must be something we can do to give this project a booster shot, so people can tell other people about it. Not make it mainstream, but perhaps try to grow the user base a little bit.

All IM's I used at the time, including the ones used talking to you, are all vaporized, recycled in cyberspace. It's been so long that I did a spot check on all of them, and they are up for registration again. So yippee!

Anyways, it would be good to get more project members in on this discussion instead of just old rguest.

I'm probably all you have. Ideas abound, but not too many people have the time to act on them.

I could farm out some C coding if you're interested...

Why only you? Is everybody else gone or something?

I feel like I'm in that episode of the twilight zone where the guy wakes up, but he's in another dimension, and some random guy from Peru is there with him......

It looks like it's just you and me here, rguest.

It's certainly not only you Rguest, I'm still alive, and so is Slayed ;). Actually, we're more alive than before with a number of major projects coming up not too long from now. Also, the WON2 network will get an upgrade in about the same time.

Reading this I'd say you're welcome to join; in fact, if you followed the news lately, we have one project coming up where your efforts may especially be much of help ;).

Just ask Rguest or Slayed for my IM, and we'll talk things through.

And now I'm heading back to the finals. Oh well, just one more.

You could also donate to my favorite charity. me. A few extra small, unmarked hundred dollar bills would certainly help me do all sorts of cool and technically impressive things.

I remember you laughing at me and calling me "a stupid conspiracy theorist", just for correctly predicting that the economy was going to go down in the toilet and never come back up again.

You also laughed at me for correctly saying that there would be NO economic recovery happening. Come on man.

I will donate to you on the condition that this project pay me $1000, Warf!y gives me the source code to all the projects, and you buy me some icecream. Muahahaha.

So Warf!y, please tell me what is this next project that I would be very good for.
