6 year Anniversary of Steamless CS Project

Postby Sl@y3D for my n@me » Sun Jan 03, 2010 6:28 pm

Yes, it's true. We are celebrating the 6th anniversary of the Steamless CS Project!

Started around December 2003 by Warf!y to cover the future of WON after Valve announced it's demise, starting as a solution to keep playing Counter-Strike 1.5, and has expanded over the years to become a network of thousands of players, comprising several different Half-Life mods. And after 6 years, we are still going strong!

Considering 6 years is a hell of a long time to be around, we will certainly be celebrating in style! A party is planned for the spring (no, really this time! :P ) and a number of projects are planned for this new year. Watch this space to find out what we have been cooking up. Continue watching this space to find out when the party is.

Since you're here, I'll let you in on a secret. One such project that is currently being developed is the PlanetWON2 Link. If you have been in the blog section lately you might find that name familiar. It's an application designed to download and update mods, get news, download patches, and much more. Well, that's as much as I'll reveal for now. You'll just have to wait for the grand release, coming soon. ;)

So, happy birthday to the Steamless CS Project, continuing to cover the future of WON 6 years later! Oh, doesn't it make you feel old? :P

Wow, this is brilliant! :D

I'm following this project for...4? years now and I'm glad it's still alive. (Anything new coming?)

Keep up the great work!

SUMMER. I meant summer. :P

New projects? Well, there is PW2link, and I think Warf!y discovered a way to get widescreen support in HL. We shall see where that leads.

But Slayed, you forgot about all the other stuff like *censored*, *scrapped* and *removed*.

Yeah, I can't tell you about those at this time. Though I can assure you there's quite a lot on schedule ;).

But Warf!y! Surely the people have a right to know about the project we have been developing to allow your computer to keep running after a blue screen!

Anybody else remember the "non-fatal" blue screens in Windows 98?
